To know Langston was to love him. Langston left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
I'm honored to share that Langston will be included in Brews 12 v UNO: cLOUD OF WITnesses, a large-scale art installation debuting at Burning Man 2026. Inspired by Hebrews 12:1, the installation celebrates remembrance, connection, and the people, and in Langston's case, the companions, whose love continues to shape us long after they're gone.

He Was Family
Anyone who knew me knew Langston.
People used to joke that I had a son because of how often I talked about him. The truth is, they weren't far off. Langston wasn't just my dog. He was family.
I adopted Langston when he was just 11 weeks old, and from that day forward, we experienced life together. He celebrated eight birthdays with me, moved with me five times, including one cross-country move from the Bay Area to New York City, stood beside me through my divorce, celebrated career milestones with me, and reminded me every day that there was still joy to be found.
What I loved most about Langston was how happy he was.
He had the biggest smile, the happiest tail wags, and an excitement for life that was contagious. Whether we were going for a walk, taking a car ride, being my sous chef in the kitchen, or simply sitting together at home, he found joy in the little things.
He believed everyone was his friend.
Some of my family and friends were genuinely afraid of large dogs until they met Langston. It didn't take long for that fear to disappear because he had the gentlest soul. He made people feel safe, loved, and welcomed.
Whether Langston was part of your life for years or just a single encounter, there's a good chance he left an indelible mark on you.
Why This Matters
In April 2026, after a courageous battle with osteosarcoma, I said goodbye to Langston.
At Langston's Rainbow Bridge ceremony, my friend and artist Eric E. Brown Jr. asked if I would allow Langston to be included in his Burning Man art installation, cLOUD OF WITnesses. It was an immediate yes.
Inspired by Hebrews 12:1, Brews 12 v UNO: cLOUD OF WITnesses is a large-scale interactive art installation centered on remembrance, connection, and family.
Langston is currently the only pet included in the installation. To me, that reflects what he always was. He wasn't just my dog. He was family.
Although the project received a Burning Man Honoraria Grant, additional community support is needed to bring the full vision to life. Every donation made through this page helps fund the fabrication, transportation, and installation of this incredible work of art.
